ARTS Camp provides campers the chance to explore the exciting world of creativity through a wide range of Art activities. Each week focuses on a different theme which we’ll explore by studying artists, cultures, history and our own unique ideas.

A large selection of materials will be used in our workshops, and projects include painting, clay-working, drawing, mosaics, silk-painting, paper mache, collage, sculpture and much more!

Summer Camper Ages: 4.5 - 10 yrs. Students will be grouped by ages.

Summer Camp Hours: 9:00am – 2:00pm (Monday through Friday)

Campers ages 4.5 - 10 yrs join us for an awesome SPRING BREAK ARTS CAMP! We’ll explore the exciting world of creativity through a variety of hands-on activities focused around the theme of Spring! Each day includes specialized art workshops, as well as imagination games, and outdoor play; all to make for a stimulating and active week! Projects include painting, drawing, printmaking, collage, sculpture, charcoal, clay-working and more! Students will be grouped by ages for workshops.

Spring Camp: ONE WEEK ONLY!! March 29 – April 2 (M - F)

Camp Hours 9:00am – 2:00pm

Camp Days: Monday – Friday

Camp Fee: $235 for Culver City Residents / $245 for non-residents (per week) **Additional Materials Fee: $35 per child / per week payable to “Smart Space”

SmART SPACE SUMMER ARTS CAMP 2009: DIVE INTO A SEA OF CREATIVITY!

ARTS Camp provides campers the chance to explore the exciting world of creativity through a wide range of Art activities. Each week focuses on a different theme which we’ll explore by studying artists, cultures, history and our own unique ideas.

Each day includes specialized art workshops, as well as imagination games and outdoor play, all to make for a stimulating and action-packed week.

SmART Space selects top Teaching Artists to run our specialized workshops. Many of our teachers return to our summer programs every year helping us ensure that every camper has an awesome, enriching ARTS CAMP experience!

In 2009, this will be our 4th summer of SmART Space ARTS CAMP. We are excited to continue to grow our programs and fill a great need for specialized arts programming. We hope you’ll join our growing community of “little artists!”

VISUAL ARTS

ART MANIA (Ages 4 - 12)

Let’s Experiment! Artistic Styles, Cultural Art, Art Masters, and Art Concepts are just some of the many exciting topics that will be explored in Art Mania. Students will create in new ways with a wide range of materials, tools and techniques. Let’s get inspired and build important new skills!

STORYBOOK ART  (Ages 5 - 12)

“Once upon a time…” we’ll read a favorite story and create amazing works of art! This class is designed to enhance student’s enjoyment of storytelling, and encourage their awareness of illustrations. We’ll explore a variety of authors, and also create our own original storybooks!

MESSY MASTERPIECES  (Ages 5 - 12)

Create your own masterpieces in the style of the Masters! Each week students will focus on the creative process as they produce their own works of art. We’ll study the background and techniques of artists such as Monet, O’Keeffe, Van Gogh, Warhol, in addition to contemporary artists, and creations made by our Teaching Artists.

DANCE AND MOVEMENT

KIDZ IN MOTION (Ages 5 - 12)

Dance like no one’s watching! In this fun and creative exploration of dance, our talented instructors teach the latest hip-hop moves, funky dance routines, and dance techniques. This class is designed for boys and girls!  There will be an informal recital at the end of the class session.

KIDS YOGA  (Ages 4 - 12)

Let’s Stretch and Breathe! Through this inspiring yoga class students will gain flexibility, strength, concentration, and balance as they learn to calm their minds and bodies. This class is taught organically with an emphasis on exploring movement and yoga in new ways.  

DRAMA WORKSHOPS

COMEDY KIDS (Ages 7 - 12)

Act it Out! Each week students will come together to play introductory drama games and use their imaginations to explore comedy and improvisation. Through theater games and exercises, students will build self-confidence, stage presence, and learn the value of teamwork. This joy-filled class culminates with an informal showcase of our new skills.

MUSICAL THEATER WORKSHOP (Ages 5 - 12)

Students will explore the wonderful world of theater through acting, singing, dancing and teamwork! In this inventive program players will learn the value of creative expression as they collaborate on an adaptation of a fairytale or popular story. Everyone gets an opportunity to shine! 

Class prices and session fees vary.

Most classes run for 50 minutes. We recommend an 8 week session, or on-going classes. Curriculum can be designed to fit specific timeframes.

• An additional materials fee may be required for Musical Theater Workshop / Performance classes.
• Location must meet a minimum number of students to run a program.
• A driving fee may be charged for locations outside of West Los Angeles.
• Contact Person or School may be required to collect group payment and pay with one check payable to “Smart Space.”
